Gestalt Anxiety Processing Worksheet
A printable Gestalt-informed worksheet for exploring anxious thoughts through present-moment awareness, body sensations, future-oriented thinking, figure and ground, protective functions, polarities, support, and small experiments. Includes guided exercises, reflection prompts, a Gestalt reframe template, examples, and research references.
This printable companion resource turns the ideas from From “What If?” to “What Is”: A Gestalt-Informed Workshop for Anxiety into a structured sequence of reflection exercises.
Rather than asking only whether an anxious thought is accurate, the worksheet invites you to notice the whole experience surrounding it: what you are imagining, what is happening in your body, what has become dominant in awareness, what you may be trying to protect yourself from, what competing needs are present, and what support you may need.
Exercises include:
arriving in the present
identifying one manageable anxious thought
moving from story to direct experience
separating “what is” from “what if”
figure and ground
language experiments
exploring what anxiety may be trying to do
body and impulse awareness
polarities
creating a small experiment
mapping support
building a final Gestalt reframe
This worksheet can be used independently, but it is designed as the companion to the full Gestalt anxiety workshop.
